Custom Connectors Made for Every Industries Requirements

Onanon’s CustomConnect® technology represents the epitome of custom connector solutions, tailored to meet the exacting demands of diverse industries, including robotics. We make these solutions with specific intents.

With a reputation for high-performance connectors, Onanon excels in delivering solutions that prioritize durability, reliability, and innovation across various applications. No cable, connector, or product we custom manufacture are the same. However, our vast experience means our engineers can craft solutions quickly.

How Does Onanon Create Custom Connectors?

When a company works with Onanon, our first step is always to understand what they are looking for. We discuss the company’s needs and our product’s role in the overall strategic plan. These products adapt to each individual situation, spanning over many different industries.

Onanon’s In-House Manufacturing?

Onanon has the ability to create in-house, meaning that the possibilities are endless. We can provide any connector, cable, or PCB board. We excel in manufacturing a variety of medical cable assemblies.

Our team collaborates with companies to ensure that the product meets all necessary specifications. This includes helping to decide the type of connector and the number of pins required. Below are some examples of different requests we have fulfilled for different companies. Custom cable connector

Meeting Unique Challenges in Robotics

A medical robotics company faced a challenge, they needed to create a unique cable assembly. This assembly had to fit into a small cartridge for a disposable robotic arm. The part must be sealed tightly to keep out gases, air, or other substances and ensure proper functioning, using a hermetic seal. This seal was necessary to maintain the assembly’s performance as any intrusion of gases, air, or other substances could disrupt the operation.

Additionally, the internal sensor must be able to withstand tough operating conditions like high temperatures, humidity, vibrations, and exposure to chemicals. These are all important factors in the challenging environment of robotic surgery equipment.

After looking everywhere, the medical robotics company couldn’t find a solution that met all the important requirements. Faced with this dilemma, they turned to Onanon for a custom-designed cable assembly that could be tailored precisely to their specifications.

Crafting the Perfect Solution

Onanon’s engineering team embarked on a design process to create a CustomConnect® solution that exceeded the client’s expectations. A huge challenge was the development of a cable assembly capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions while maintaining its performance integrity.

The solution is a medical cable assembly we created using advanced materials and specific treatment to ensure its quality. We used specialized engineering techniques to achieve the most effective bonding of the silicone overmold to the board. This ensured robust sealing and protection against external elements, creating a hermetic seal.

This critical step was essential in guaranteeing the longevity of the assembly under the rigors of robotic surgery environments. Its seamless integration into the disposable robotic arm cartridge ensured functionality without compromising operational safety or reliability.

Onanon’s commitment to efficiency and rapid innovation played a pivotal role in the project’s success. Typically, the development of such specialized solutions could span up to two years. Onanon’s efficient processes and ability to make products in-house helped the team finish the project in less than six months. Our team not only provides companies with the best solution, but also the fastest.

Onanon’s  custom cable assemblies provide a solution that pushes the limits of medical connector technology. We continue to lay the groundwork for future advancements in robotic surgery and beyond.

More Case Studies:

Additionally, more examples of Onanon’s medical interconnects and how they are playing and essential part to the overall medical industry.

Light-up Heart Pump Connector

Another medical company tasked us with creating a smart connector to be used in a heart pump. When surgeons are in the operating room it can be dark, so the company requested that the connector light up. This glow would provide a visual confirmation that the plug was secure. With all the movement that happens during surgery, the company also requested that the connector be able to spin 360 degrees. Onanon’s engineers created just that, a solution that spun 360 degrees, lit up and seamlessly transmitted data.

Guidewire Glow

Onanon works with other medical companies in a similar cases. When our engineers were tasked with creating a connector that changes color based on its connection status. The connector lights up red when nothing is connected and green when a guidewire is inserted. This is tailored directly to the company’s needs, demonstrating our engineers’ ability to customize connectors in various medical applications.

A company might receive a render of what the product will look like:

Then they will receive the real product

  Glowing Connectors- Red and green

The wires glow red when there is no wire inserted.

All of these cases showcase Onanon’s experience as a custom cable manufacturer. Through the decades, we have learned to pivot, grow and think outside the box when designing custom interconnects. It is how we have become connector experts in the field and how we will continue to stay at the forefront of cable assembly innovations.
